Pan-India stars from regional industries have emerged in recent years, and in 2023, they are set to broaden their reach with a widely anticipated release. Here are some names who we think will do well at the box office this year with their movie :
Sukumaran’s skills were first presented to Hindi film fans in 2012 with the release of Aiyyaa. He was later seen in the 2013 film Aurangzeb and the 2017 film Naam Shabana. But it was with the rise in regional content consumption that he became a household name. His production firm, Prithviraj Productions, has been behind blockbusters such as 9 in 2019 and his directorial debut, Lucifer, in the same year. Lucifer became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, as well as winning over the OTT audience. Jana Gana Mana in 2022 was another major hit. But it wasn’t until Kaapa, a murder thriller produced by Saregama India Ltd. That he fully established himself as a pan-Indian powerhouse. In 2023, he will be seen in the Telugu action-thriller, ‘Salazar’ opposite Prabhas. And also in a Hindi feature film Bade Miya Chote Miya with Akshay Kumar.
When the Malayalam film ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ became a streaming sensation in 2021, viewers throughout the country stood up to take note of this subtle yet strong performer. Since making his well-received debut in the 2009 movie Ritu, actor Asif Ali has straddled the line between box office successes and critically acclaimed films, such as the 2012 period drama Ozhimuri. Fans are looking forward to the release of his film Kasargold in 2023. Which promises to be another smoldering criminal tale from Yoodlee Films.
Pushpa – The Rise smashed records and became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year in 2021, launching Telugu actor Allu Arjun onto the national scene. It was also one of the most successful Telugu films of all time. He has forcefully escaped from the shadows of his producer father, Allu Aravind, and his uncle, superstar Chiranjeevi, with his career trajectory. This year, Allu Arjun will appear in the much-anticipated sequel, Pushpa – The Rule, with Rashmika Mandanna.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu
When Samantha Ruth Prabhu featured as the fierce adversary Raji, a rebel commander from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, in the second season of Prime Video’s Hindi spy thriller The Family Man’ in 2021, India stood up and took notice. Samantha is a globally recognized performer whose appearance in Pushpa – The Rise drove fans into a frenzy. She has regional songs such as her debut Ye Maaya Chesave, Eega, Kaththi, Dookudu, Mersal, Majili, and the highly praised, Super Deluxe. This year, she will play the main character in the grandiose period drama Shaakuntalam.
Tamannaah’s first few Hindi films, such as Chand Sa Roshan Chehra and Himmatwala, did not fare well. But with the Baahubali trilogy, she rose to prominence. Even in these two mostly testosterone-driven movies dominated by Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, her martial arts talents, screen presence, and evident talent let her stand out. Tamanna is poised to welcome 2023 with Bhola Shankar, remake of the Tamil film Vedalam starring Chiranjeevi and Keerthi Suresh. After working extensively in the regional market with superstars like as Surya in Ayan, and Vikram in Sketch.
